Trees in Common Area
Dear Weathersfield Resident:
Last week there was a resident who had a tree company cut down three very large crepe myrtle trees without any communication to the HOA. Trees on the property are the responsibility of the HOA and most are in the common area.
If all owners took it upon themselves to cut trees down at will, the community would take on a totally different look and there could be just a handful of trees remaining. Hence, the owner said it was only three trees, however if each of the
145 owners took down three trees this would be 435 trees.
Removing or pruning any tree needs approval from the HOA. The forms are on the website,
www.weathersfield-HOA.com . Owners that remove trees without approval may be asked to replace the trees at their own expense. The Board will deal with this issue as they will with any action that is against the rules and regulations of the community.

Wildlife Sightings and Precautions
Dear Resident of Weathersfield Place,
Kindly note, coyotes have been seen frequently in the community over the past few weeks, now more common to North Carolina. Coyotes are especially active at dawn and dusk. Be careful when walking dogs, and do not leave animals unattended at any time.
With Spring quickly approaching, also be aware of Copperhead Snakes which are also common to North Carolina.

Community Pruning Project / Crepe Myrtle Notification
Dear Resident of Weathersfield Place:
February is the time to prune hence pruning will begin this week at the townhomes. If your home is on the “do not prune” list, this does not apply.
Selective shrubs will have rejuvenation pruning done. Rejuvenation pruning is a drastic reduction of size, from a shrub that can be ten feet or more cut down to 12-16 inches. It will look awful as there will no Longer be any green on the shrub. However, for the long-term health and appearance of the shrub, it is the best form of pruning when done periodically. The Spring flush will bring green back to the shrub in a few months. In the meantime, it will be ugly.
Regarding crepe myrtle pruning. Everyone has ideas on how this plant should be pruned. The landscaper will have the ultimate decision here and will prune the crepe myrtles based on location, size and type, at their discretion. Please do not interfere with the pruning of the crepe myrtle trees.
There are owners that complain about crepe myrtle trees and other trees dropping debris on their cars. This cannot be helped. It is good that there are many parking spaces at Weathersfield, so if your car is getting debris from overhanging trees, please do not ask that the tree be pruned. Pick another parking space away from the tree.
If you have questions, please call Towne Properties.

Notification of Trash Can Guidelines, Outdoor Lighting, and Seasonal Decorations
Dear Resident of Weathersfield Place:
All residents will be receiving information in the mail regarding Trash Can Guidelines for the Weathersfield Place Community. This information should help to decrease the number of cans being left out at the curb since this can make it difficult to park or drive through the community.
Since it is that time of year for decorating, there is also information included in the letter about Outdoor Lighting and Seasonal Decorations. These Outdoor Lighting and Seasonal Decoration guidelines are included below.
Weathersfield Place Policy Outdoor Lighting and Seasonal Decorations
Outdoor Lighting
Outdoor lighting (except for seasonal holiday lighting) must be approved by the Board in advance of its installation.
Only white lights are allowed. No colored lights.
No colored lights are permitted in the sconce lights or the post lamps.
The HOA provides the LED light bulbs for the sconce lights and the post lamps so they are all uniform in appearance.
Seasonal Lighting and Decorations
Halloween decorations are permitted from October 15 through November 7.
Seasonal lighting and decorations are permitted from November through January.
All other seasonal lighting and decorations should be removed no later than 1 week after the holiday ends.
Seasonal lights are permitted on railings and bushes in front of a unit and can be white or colored lights.
No colored lights are permitted in the sconce lights or the post lamps.
This information is also included in the updated WP Handbook posted on the Weathersfield Place HOA Community Website. Please reach out to Towne Properties with any questions.
